Big Data Systems Engineer (Remote)

KBR is seeking a Big Data Systems Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be part of the KBR team supporting the Test Resource Management Center’s (TRMC) Big Data (BD) and Knowledge Management (KM) Team deploying BD and KM systems for DoD testing Ranges and various acquisition programs.

Big Data Systems Engineer – Job Summary

This position is remote, allowing candidates to work from one of KBR’s facilities or from home, assuming a stable internet connection.

• The Big Data Systems Engineer will work on the deployment and integration of a highly visible data analytic project called Cloud Hybrid Edge-to-Enterprise Evaluation Test & Analysis Suite (CHEETAS) at multiple DoD ranges and labs.
• As a Big Data Systems Engineer, you will be a critical part of our technical team responsible for deploying CHEETAS within customer environments.
• This position requires close collaboration with system administrators and software developers to communicate, document, and resolve deployment issues as they arise.
• You will deploy CHEETAS within disparate DoD testing Ranges and acquisition programs environments, sometimes located within DoD vaults with no outside internet connectivity.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Deploy and integrate CHEETAS at multiple DoD ranges and labs.
• Work closely with system administrators and software developers to resolve deployment issues.
• Deploy CHEETAS within various DoD testing Ranges and acquisition program environments.

Basic Qualifications:

• US Citizens only.
• Active or current Secret Clearance required - Top Secret Clearance preferred. Candidates without an Active Security Clearance will NOT be considered.
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or related) and 10 years of DoD experience. Entry-level Integration Engineers will NOT be considered.
• Experience with integration and configuration of: Hadoop, SQL Server Big Data Cluster, Kubernetes, CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat, Windows Server, VMWare, etc.
• Five (5) years of hands-on experience in big data environments.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Adept at deploying and configuring Big Data and Knowledge Management tools.
• Extensive technical expertise in the configuration and troubleshooting of big data ecosystems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to become a CHEETAS deployment subject matter expert.
• Experience with tools and technologies: Helms Charts, YAML, Kubernetes, SQL Server, Windows Server, and Linux distributions.
• Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively about technical topics.
• Willingness to learn new business processes or application nuances every Agile sprint release.
• Ability to travel 25% with possible surges up to 50% to support end users at various DoD Ranges and Labs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in government/defense labs.
• Experience with major DoD acquisition programs.
• Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies.
