Job description

STV
is seeking a Bid Director to work with our commercial project management team. This position is designated as hybrid (3 days in-office per week) and can be within a commutable distance of one of our major U.S. offices.

This role requires comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of alternative delivery methods for Major Projects, including engineering, contracts, risk management, schedule development, subconsultant procurement, resource planning, cost estimating and controls, and reporting methodologies to prepare accurate and robust bids.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to manage specific Major Project bids and oversee all other Major Project bids.

  • Coordinate with Design-Build Director and Regional Director to identify Major Project bids.
  • Develop strategy, schedule, and resource requirements for bids, ensuring adherence to Gateway processes, procedures, and approvals.
  • Work with the Project Manager and Commercial Manager to establish the Design Delivery plan, including scope and deliverables such as drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Review Prime Agreement General Requirements and ensure bids address these, financially and schedule-wise.
  • Oversee the preparation of a resource-loaded Design Schedule, coordinating with the Contractor's construction schedule.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Project Managers to develop and execute procurement strategies, ensuring accurate budgets and bid exclusions.
  • Develop auditable fee estimates for self-delivered design, ensuring scope and schedule are understood.
  • Conduct Risk and Opportunity Workshops, incorporating findings into bids.
  • Coordinate with Regional Director to establish Project Organagram, Design Work Plan, and BIM Execution Plan, ensuring inclusion in bids.
  • Support the development of Alternative Technical Concepts, considering risks and commercial opportunities.
  • Prepare Tender Summary Sheets and Offer Letters, including scope, schedule, clarifications, and exclusions.
  • Maintain a database of previous bids for KPI purposes.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in related fields.
  • Strong background in alternative delivery methods, understanding contractors' means and methods, contract implementation, and commercial management.
  • Technical knowledge in commercial, contract, and risk management.
  • Experience with large engineering and construction projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to resolve problems independently and operate efficiently.
  • Degree in construction, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies.

Compensation Range: $175,410.26 - $233,880.34
