Job summary

ZipRecruiter is hiring a BI Engineer II on the Business Intelligence team to design data systems, models, and AI-powered tooling that scale how we operate and make decisions. You’ll partner with RevOps, Decision Science, Product, and Engineering, working with Spark, Databricks, and Kubernetes to process billions of records daily.

We are open to leveling for this role based on experience and interview performance. This role offers a hybrid work environment with most US-based positions also remote.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as a Data Engineer/BI Engineer or similar IC role.
• Advanced SQL and data modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
• Strong data warehouse architecture knowledge and modern modeling methods.
• Hands-on with software engineering practices: Git, CI/CD, code reviews, automated testing, monitoring.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
• Excellent communication across business stakeholders and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect data systems serving ops and product teams.
• Extend internal AI platform for analytics.
• Set data engineering bar with testing, CI/CD, observability.
• Build and own reusable data models.
• Partner with product engineering to embed analytics into pipelines.
• Mentor teammates and raise technical standards.
