Job summary

UMass Amherst Foundation is seeking a Senior Director of BI & Analytics to lead data infrastructure, reporting, and BI capabilities in our Advancement Operations division. You’ll shape technical direction, ensure data quality, and deliver self-serve dashboards built on Snowflake, Tableau, and Salesforce Education Cloud.

You’ll own end-to-end data pipelines, mentor a small team, and promote a culture of documentation and data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of experience in BI, data analytics, or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

Designs, builds, and maintains Snowflake reporting views and data pipelines used as UMAF’s trusted source of truth for advancement data.
Partners with IT and UMAX administrators to ensure reliable, auditable data flows between systems.
Manages ETL processes and data warehouse architecture to support reporting and analytics needs.
Maintains data quality standards with reconciliation processes before any output is shared.
Develops and maintains Tableau dashboards and reports for fundraising performance and engagement.
Builds and maintains data dictionary and self-serve documentation for staff.
Supports leadership requests, translating data findings into clear recommendations.
Establishes and tracks KPIs and benchmarks for fundraising performance.
Serves as team lead for BI & Analytics, setting priorities and managing workload.
Documents all reporting logic so others can trace and reproduce figures.
Supports hiring, performance management, and team planning.
