Job summary

JSM Airport Services is seeking a highly motivated BHS Technician II at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). This is a career-track opportunity with a long-term professional future starting with a commitment of one year or more.

The primary function is electro-mechanical maintenance support. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, replace components, and ensure safe operation of the baggage handling system.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must read and interpret repair manuals and basic mechanical schematics.
  • Must have at least three (3) years of mechanical work experience.
  • Must have at least one (1) year of basic electrical and/or electronic systems work experience.
  • Must pass a 10-year background check and obtain security clearance.
  • Must possess a valid drivers' license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a variety of tools safely and properly, using PPE as required.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance such as cleaning conveyors and removing debris.
  • Diagnose equipment failures under supervision.
  • Make minor adjustments to ensure system functionality and reliability (electrical and mechanical).
  • Clear and reset baggage handling system jams safely.
  • Take temperature and speed readings of components and belting.
  • Replace and adjust components including bearings, motors, belts, and sensors.
  • Repair electrical components (MCPs, VFDs, wiring).
  • Work safely in locations with moving equipment, electricity, and tight spaces.
  • Attend required training and follow company policies and procedures.

JSM Airport Services is seeking a highly motivated BHS Technician II at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). This is a career-track opportunity, and we are looking for an individual ready to commit to a long-term professional future with our company, starting with an expected commitment of one year or more. The primary function of this position is to provide electro-mechanical operational, preventative, and emergency maintenance support.

Compensation:
  • Full-Time
  • Weekly Pay
  • Hourly Rate: Starting at $25.00 (Depending on Experience)
Work Schedule:

Must be able to work as scheduled (this is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation). Holidays will be included if they fall on a scheduled workday. Shift assignments are based on the airport and company requirements, as well as a technician's strengths, skill set, and experience. Our technicians are expected to be flexible in terms of prospective shift assignments.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Work with a variety of tools/hand tools safely and properly, as well as utilize any/all appropriate safety and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, which will include, but not be limited to, cleaning of conveyor and surrounding areas, removal of debris from between conveyors, removal and replacement of conveyor cover for inspection and cleaning, and the recognition of potential issues through audio and visual inspection
  • Diagnosing equipment failures under the guidance of senior staff
  • Make minor adjustments to ensure system functionality and reliability pertaining to both electrical and mechanical items
  • Clear and reset baggage handling system jams in a safe and efficient manner
  • Take temperature and speed readings of components and belting
  • Perform full replacement and adjustment of components, including but not limited to: bearings, motors, reducers, belts (replacement and repair), belts (tensioning and tracking), photoelectric cells, and pushbuttons
  • Perform repair and troubleshooting of electrical components (MCP’s, local functional electrical switch boxes, VFD’s, ATR’s, belt shaft encoders, general wiring)
  • Work safely in a variety of locations that may include moving equipment and electricity, as well as small spaces, high spaces, dirty spaces, and/or hot spaces
  • Attend requested/required training, demonstrating a willingness to learn
  • Follow and comply with any company and/or federally established policies and procedures
  • Safety and compliance training as required
  • Perform other reasonable ancillary duties to support the operation and our customer
Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Must be able to read and interpret repair manuals and basic mechanical schematics
  • Must have at least three (3) years of mechanical work experience
  • Must have at least one (1) year of basic electrical and/or electronic systems work experience
  • Must be able to undergo a 10-year background check and be able to obtain/maintain security clearance
  • Must possess a valid drivers' license (with a clean driving record)
  • Must be able to work independently
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
  • Frequently lifting/moving items that may range in weight up-to 50 pounds, occasionally up-to 100 pounds
  • Work safely in a variety of locations that may include moving equipment and electricity, as well as small spaces, high spaces, dirty spaces, and hot spaces
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Be aware of moving equipment, as well as areas where electricity is present
