Job summary

Union Square Cafe in New York, NY, is seeking a Beverage Director to lead the bar and beverage programs, mentor the Bar and Service Teams, and drive financial performance in line with USHG values.

The role requires 3+ years of restaurant beverage management, deep knowledge of beer, wine and spirits, strong inventory and cost control skills, and excellent communication. You will partner with senior leadership to elevate hospitality and contribute to the group's mission.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of restaurant beverage management experience.
• Excellent Beverage knowledge – including beer, wine and spirits.
• Excellent understanding of beverage inventory and cost management.
• Excellent knowledge of restaurant service team roles.
• Strong communication and people management skills.
• Fluency in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate Enlightened Hospitality for all stakeholders.
• Lead service staff with management to deliver unparalleled hospitality.
• Identify opportunities for Beverage to open doors to Hospitality and dialogue with guests and businesses.
• Guide teams to find the yes for guests while upholding USHG values and operations.
• Drive beverage to increase cover counts and attract new guests while retaining existing ones.
• Foster a positive, collaborative environment across service and kitchen teams.
• Educate the Service Team on beer, spirits, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages to add value and achieve financial goals.
• Ensure end-of-period reports, inventories, and forecasts are accurate and timely.
• Ensure beverage changes are implemented with proper communication and education.
• Maintain POS and inventory systems and ensure data accuracy.
• Maintain relationships with other beverage/wine managers across USHG.
