Job summary

SunOpta is seeking a Production Maintenance Mechanic I to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on extraction, mix-blend, boilers, HVAC, and other production systems. The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager and supports safety, quality, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced facility.

You will execute preventive maintenance, inspect equipment, and collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure reliable production.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 2+ years in a food-grade facility.
• Aseptic processing and high-speed form/fill/seal packaging preferred.
• Boiler license preferred in MN (1st class B) and willing to obtain under apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned, corrective and unplanned maintenance on equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment using available documentation.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness in the work area.
• Support Quality Systems and protect company assets.
• Lead preventive maintenance program; inspect machines for conformance to standards.
• Communicate within the maintenance team for smooth shift transitions.
• Other duties as assigned.
