Job summary

FlexGen, based in Durham, NC, is seeking a Project Manager to lead utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects from contract execution through commercial operation, coordinating Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applications Engineering, Software Integration, Supply Chain, Construction, Commissioning, Commercial and Customer teams.

Reporting to the Director of Project Management, this role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience on complex engineering/energy projects.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
• Willingness to travel 10–20%.
• PMP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of utility-scale BESS projects from contract to operation, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, budget, and customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applications Engineering, Software Integration, Supply Chain, Construction, Commissioning, Commercial, and Customer.
• Develop and execute integrated project plans: scope, schedule, budget, resource planning, risk management, and change control.
• Drive PMO governance with standardized methodologies, reporting, stage-gate reviews, and executive communications.
• Lead customer, executive, and cross-functional reviews, identify risks, resolve issues, and drive timely decisions.
• Ensure alignment between commercial commitments, engineering deliverables, operational readiness, procurement and customer expectations.
• Capture lessons learned and promote best practices across the PMO.
• Build strong relationships with customers, EPC partners, OEMs, and internal stakeholders.
