Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking a Lead Engineer for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to drive reliability, safety, and performance across AES CE assets. You will lead engineers, coordinate with field operations, and implement corrective actions for audits.

Travel up to 35% is expected. The role requires CPUC/UL9540 knowledge, safety leadership, and development of O&M strategies to optimize asset value.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D degree in Engineering or higher with 10+ years of experience.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in BESS operations, engineering, or construction.
• Knowledge of CPUC BESS requirements and facility audits.
• Ability to guide operations teams during emergent BESS safety issues.
• Advanced data analysis using Python, R, and SCADA data.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with field operations to design and deploy systems meeting BESS safety requirements and fix audit findings.
• Provide troubleshooting, testing and maintenance support for AESCE battery fleet.
• Lead reliability and performance engineers on corrective actions.
• Develop PM procedures and SOPs with reliability engineers.
