The position emphasizes regulatory familiarity with UL standards and NFPA 855/68/69/70/72/110/111, CFD fire modeling, and clear communication with cross-functional teams. Travel up to 40% within the Americas is required.

Qualifications

• Mandatory BESS experience: two to five years in Battery Energy Storage Systems Fire Protection Engineering.
• Strict exclusion: background limited to traditional commercial building fire sprinkler/suppression systems will not be entertained.

Responsibilities

• Code translation: interpret fire code regulations into precise technical product requirements or permitting solutions.
• Compliance matrixes: design and maintain matrices to track regulatory criteria across deployment areas.
• Deficiency resolution: identify gaps or variances and develop engineering workarounds.
• Risk mitigation & testing: validate safety parameters through modeling and full-scale testing for deflagration and fire propagation.
• Reporting & visibility: create dashboards and executive reports to inform regional leadership.
• First responder education: develop training for internal teams and regional fire departments.
• Technical issue management: participate in issue resolution and drive engineering adjustments.
• Industry leadership: monitor changing global codes and energy storage safety benchmarks.
