Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to support the FAA's Fire Life Safety program within the NISC team. The role focuses on CRA oversight, FAA guidance development, and site support across central US regions with remote work and significant travel.

The ideal candidate has PE or path to licensure, 5+ years in Fire Life Safety/Fire Protection, and strong ICC/NFPA code knowledge. This role offers remote work with up to 50% travel and a pathway to professional licensure support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years relevant exempt experience or Master's degree and 6+ years relevant exempt experience.
• Professional Engineering License in Fire Protection Engineering or willingness to obtain one.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in Fire Life Safety/Fire Protection.
• Strong working knowledge of ICC and NFPA codes.
• Past experience developing and/or providing holistic consultation on FLS programs.
• Ability to produce FLS designs of various critical FLS elements and provide comments on designs.
• Experience training FLS concepts and code application; ability to work in a team of Fire Protection Engineers.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Travel up to 50% to FAA locations within the region.

Responsibilities

• Provide final review for CRA reports before delivery to the customer.
• Assist the FAA with development of the Technical Implementation Guide.
• Assist the FAA in fire investigations.
• Maintain CRA templates, guides, SOP, tracking log, and IRMC documents.
• Assist in CRA report closeout meetings.
• Coordinate with FAA to ensure CRA reports meet FAA requirements.
• Assist with hiring of additional personnel.
• Develop FLS code and standards analyses for FAA facilities.
• Provide guidance on code applicability to FAA facilities and Agency initiatives.
• Coordinate site visits, scheduling, and CRA status tracking.
• Submit and maintain IRMC for each project at least 30 days prior to site visits.
