Job summary

Berklee College of Music is hiring a Student Worker under Berklee Student Employment. You must be a current Berklee or Boston Conservatory student enrolled at least half-time, with summer pre-registration for fall if applicable.

The position is on-campus and pays an hourly rate of $17.51. Responsibilities include learning material, attending rehearsals and performances, communicating with the Performance Director, preparing music, and tracking changes during rehearsals.

Qualifications

• Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate program.
• Summer eligibility requires pre-registration for fall semester.
• Maintain valid SSN and (if applicable) visa status.
• Minimum 2.0 GPA; first-semester students may work.
• Federal Work Study may apply.
• In good disciplinary standing; must be located in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Learn all material assigned by the Instructor.
• Attend ensemble rehearsals, sound checks, and performances on time for full duration.
• Maintain communication with the Performance Director throughout the week.
• Prepare assigned music before the first rehearsal.
• Arrive familiar with keys, tempos, cuts, vamps, endings.
• Track musical changes made during rehearsals.
• Notify promptly if music is missing or unclear.

Job description

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements: Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Enrolled at least half‑time in a degree, diploma, or certificate‑seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre‑registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters. Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN). Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester. Federal Work Study student may apply. In good disciplinary standing. Must be located in the U.S.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Learn all material assigned by the Instructor.
• Attend all ensemble rehearsals, sound checks, and performances on time and for the full duration.
• Keep an open line of communication with the Performance Director throughout the week.
• Prepare assigned music before the first rehearsal.
• Arrive familiar with keys, tempos, cuts, vamps, and endings.
• Track musical changes made during rehearsals.
• Communicate quickly if music is missing or unclear.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Attend in‑person all ensemble and/or group rehearsals, and soundchecks led by the Instructor, Performance Director(s), and Producers during Pre‑Orientation (Aug16‑22).
• Be in good disciplinary and academic standing.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
• Maintain an overall Audition Rating of 5 or higher.
• Attend Pre‑Orientation schedule as follows:
  • Mon, Aug17 – Thu, Aug21: Rehearsals from 2:30–5:30PM.
  • Fri, Aug22: Production Rehearsal, Dress Rehearsal, and Showcase from 10:45AM–9:30PM.

Hourly Rate: Student Worker 3, $17.51/hour
