Job summary

SEIU (Service Employees International Union) in Washington, DC HQ seeks a Senior Benefits Manager to lead the benefits strategy, leave administration, and wellness programs. This role reports to People, Talent, and HR leadership and oversees vendor relationships, compliance, and analytics.

You will drive a multi-year well-being roadmap, align programs with SEIU values, and partner with leadership to foster an inclusive, high-performing workforce.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
• Experience with HRIS and benefits administration platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP, UKG, Paylocity).
• Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state benefits regulations.
• Deep expertise in benefits administration, compliance, and vendor management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly and empathetically.
• Hybrid or on-site work environment.

Responsibilities

• Total Well-Being, Benefits Strategy & Workforce Experience: Develop a comprehensive employee well-being strategy and design benefits programs.
• Compliance & Policy Management: Ensure ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA compliance and regulatory filings.
• Employee Experience & Communication: Deliver clear benefits communications and ongoing education for employees and managers.
• Leave Management: Oversee Paid Family Leave, FMLA, ADA accommodations, disability, and other leave programs.
• Benefits Administration & Operations: Manage enrollments, annual open enrollment, and data integrity.
• Vendor & Benefits Fund Management: Lead vendor relations, contracts, renewals, and cost containment.
