Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Benefits Support Staff (Public Benefits Specialist, Entry) to serve as the first point of contact for individuals seeking assistance, guiding them to available programs and resources. The role emphasizes empathy, organization, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

You will work in the Albany office, providing in-person and remote assistance as needed, processing applications, and supporting customers through program enrollment and benefits

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a reception area or call center with high-volume work.
• Experience handling confidential information and data entry accuracy.
• Ability to communicate clearly with diverse clients.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming environment for customers in person, by phone, or online.
• Greet and assist customers using trauma-informed approach.
• Assist customers applying for programs (TANF, SNAP, ERDC, etc.).
• Track and document financial transactions and case status updates.
• Use multiple computer systems to document information and access policies.
