Job summary

The Oregon Department of Human Services seeks an entry-level Benefits Support Staff to serve as the first point of contact for individuals and families seeking public benefits in Albany. You will provide in-person, online, and phone assistance, helping applicants access medical, cash assistance, food benefits, childcare, and long-term care programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years in a reception or call center handling high-volume work.
• Associate degree in Behavioral/Social Science or equivalent combo of education and experience.
• Experience handling confidential information and customer data.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming environment for customers and greet them in person, by phone, and online.
• Assist customers applying for programs and services (TANF, SNAP, ERDC, etc.).
• Gather initial information, provide case status updates, and share community resources.
• Handle financial duties and document transactions across multiple systems.
