Job summary

Uncommon Schools is seeking a Specialist, Talent - Benefits to deliver a comprehensive total rewards experience for staff. You will administer benefits programs day-to-day, serve as the primary benefits contact, and collaborate with payroll and talent teams to ensure accurate deductions and onboarding.

This in-person role requires at least three days per week at our Central Office in Manhattan (100 Church Street); travel monthly to regional sites (Rochester, Boston, Camden) for 2–3 days.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of benefits administration or total rewards experience.
• Strong knowledge of health, welfare, retirement benefits and leaves management.
• Familiarity with ACA, FMLA, COBRA, ERISA and related laws.
• Proficient in HRIS and data reporting; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Administer day-to-day benefits operations across health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.
• Process enrollments, terminations, and life events in HRIS.
• Audit vendor billing statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Serve as main staff contact for benefits coverage, eligibility, and enrollment.
• Support annual open enrollment and maintain accurate benefits records.
• Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, FMLA, COBRA and related regulations.
