Job summary

Hampton City Schools in Hampton, VA is seeking a benefits and retirement administrator to manage benefits enrollment, open enrollment, and retirement processes. You will serve as the primary contact for employees and coordinate with insurance carriers and vendors to resolve issues and provide information.

The role requires an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred), at least three years of benefits/retirement experience, and strong communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years of experience in benefits and/or retirement administration.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts at all levels; strong customer service.
• Experience with benefits administration software is a plus.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing benefits administration.

Responsibilities

• Serve as main contact for employee questions on benefits eligibility, enrollment, claims, and coverage options.
• Conduct new hire benefits orientations and explain options to help employees decide.
• Coordinate annual open enrollment and update rates, vendor information and plan documents.
• Prepare projections and analyses for Virginia Retirement System (VRS) and Hampton Employees Retirement System (HERS).
• Maintain benefits information on HR website and enrollment system.
• Schedule and host information sessions for retirement, benefits, and wellness programs.
• Serve as liaison between employees, carriers, and vendors; resolve billing discrepancies.
• Provide high levels of customer service and assist other HR staff during heavy workload.
