Job summary

Anthos|Home is seeking an experienced social service professional for the role of Benefits & Financial Literacy Specialist. Hybrid role with regular travel across NYC, supporting participants to access public benefits and build financial stability.

You will screen for eligibility, assist with applications, accompany to centers, and establish budgeting plans while developing referral partnerships to sustain housing stability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 2–3 years of experience in benefits navigation, entitlements advocacy, financial counseling, or related case management.
• Working knowledge of NYC and NYS benefits systems (HRA, DSS, SSA) and ACCESS HRA familiarity.
• Experience with arrears, emergency assistance, eviction prevention preferred.
• Willingness to travel across NYC and surroundings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct benefits screenings for SNAP, Medicaid, Cash Assistance, SSI/SSDI, SCRIE/DRIE, and utility programs.
• Support applications from submission through determination; accompany Participants to benefits centers and appointments.
• Track pending applications and follow up to resolve delays and errors.
• Assist Participants with denials and appeals, including hearings preparation.
• Monitor recertification timelines and help Participants complete them on time.
• Build and maintain referral partnerships and connect Participants through warm handoffs.
• Coordinate with Aftercare Specialists; document in Salesforce and uphold confidentiality.
