WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The Benefits Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting the Benefits departments of the Human Resources team, however, will also provide support to other departments within Human Resources as needed. This individual undertakes a variety of administrative tasks to facilitate daily human resources functions including following up with employees regarding benefit changes. With limited supervision, the Benefits Coordinator works accurately and efficiently to ensure the end-to-end completion of human resources operations and projects, contributing to the attainment of specific goals and results of the human resources department and the organization. The Benefits Coordinator exercises the utmost discretion when handling sensitive and confidential matters, such as benefit changes, personnel relations and organizational changes.
A GLIMPSE INTO YOUR DAY
- Assists with the administration of various human resources policies, plans and procedures for all regions.
- Maintains accurate and complete employee records in electronic and paper form, as applicable, and ensures all recordkeeping requirements are met.
- Maintains the department’s calendar and answer emails sent to the department’s general inbox.
- Participates in human resources meetings and in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
- Assists in monitoring changes in employment practices laws and ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (OSHA, EEO, ADA, FMLA ERISA, DOL, worker’s compensation, etc.).
- Creates benefits reports as requested.
- Contacts employees and managers to follow up on missing benefits enrollments and missing 401(k) beneficiaries.
- Cross trains with HRIS to support benefit related vendor feeds and reporting.
- Resolves employee issues with insurance providers and other benefits administrators in conjunction with the Benefits Team.
- Assists with reconciling monthly benefit vendor invoices.
- Assists with the creation, mailing and maintenance of FMLA and other state leave programs and leave of absence procedures.
- Assists with benefits mailings and other required mailings.
- Attends training and seminars (via online or in person) as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THIS ROLE
- College degree with a Human Resources focus preferred.
- 1+ years of benefits experience preferred.
- aPHR or SHRM-CP Certification or equivalent preferred.
- Highly detailed and accurate, with excellent organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; expresses thoughts and ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing; establishes trust and confidence quickly.
- Familiarity of rules and regulations associated with HIPAA, FMLA, CFRA and other employment laws.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.
- Ability to function effectively under tight time constraints, consistently meet strict deadlines, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
- Ability to communicate appropriately and build professional relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Willingness to adhere to all principles of confidentiality.
- Ability to represent the company in a professional manner to both internal and external customers and clients.
