Description

Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing culturally sensitive healthcare to the American Indian community. Our services include medical, dental, optometry, behavioral health, fitness, nutrition, and family programs.

We are hiring a Benefit Coordinator responsible for screening patients for Medicare, Medicaid, Affordable Care Act, and MarketPlace services. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills, enjoy community service, and possess strong computer skills. The role involves ongoing research on benefit changes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  1. Conduct interviews with patients to identify eligibility for resources, explain Indian Health Care Improvement Act Amendments of 1988, and ensure patient understanding.
  2. Verify Medicaid eligibility via online systems, update status in RPMS, and manage termination dates.
  3. Verify private insurance and Medicare eligibility through designated websites.
  4. Determine eligibility for Oklahoma Medicaid programs, submit applications, follow up, and input data into RPMS.
  5. Educate and outreach to families about the Health Insurance Marketplace and the Affordable Care Act.
  6. Assist families with enrollment, eligibility for premium tax credits, and plan options.
  7. Obtain reports on SoonerCare terminations and manage renewals/recertifications.
  8. Scan and document administrative forms and eligibility documents into patient records.
  9. Conduct plan comparisons during Marketplace open enrollment.
  10. Prepare appointment lists and verify private insurance eligibility prior to appointments.
  11. Serve as backup registration staff as needed.

Qualifications
  • Alignment with OKCIC’s mission, vision, and core values.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in healthcare administration, insurance, or eligibility determination.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare payers and reimbursement processes.
  • Pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain Certified Medicare Assistance Counselor certification through the Oklahoma Insurance Department.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality service.
