Job summary

USI Insurance Services in San Francisco seeks a health and welfare compliance attorney to monitor laws including ACA, ERISA, the Code, HIPAA and COBRA, and to craft client-ready materials for internal sales teams and external clients.

You will work with a national team, develop education tools, deliver presentations, and stay current on regulatory developments while traveling 10–20% as needed. Strong writing and research skills are essential.

Qualifications

• JD and college degree required.
• 4-8 years of experience in working on compliance issues of employer-sponsored welfare benefits plans.
• Prior experience in employee benefits law or compliance consulting on these issues.

Responsibilities

• Establish effective working relationships with internal partners, clients and carriers.
• Work as part of a national team of Employee Benefit Attorneys to meet objectives for the health and welfare compliance team.
• Research, read, evaluate and edit articles, alerts and other materials for publication or distribution to clients.
• Gather material, perform research, and assist client service team in ERISA/ACA/Code/HIPAA/state issues affecting health and welfare plans.
• Develop and maintain compliance education tools for health and welfare compliance.
• Create and deliver presentations to internal staff and external clients and prospects.
• Monitor and identify legal developments affecting employee benefit plans.
• Maintain and update compliance library resources.
