Highlands Community Services (HCS) in Abingdon, VA is seeking a Benefits Specialist to manage the full employee benefits lifecycle and lead Open Enrollment campaigns. Job description

This position works collaboratively as a vital member of the Human Resources Team at Highlands Community Services in planning and providing essential services to support the Agency’s overarching goals and objectives as it relates to employee benefits and leaves of absences. This role requires an exceptionally high level of accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to confidentiality and trustworthiness.

Operating under the guidance of the Director of Human Resources, the successful candidate will manage the full employee benefits lifecycle, administering comprehensive programs, leading annual Open Enrollment campaigns, and serving as the primary employee advocate and vendor liaison. This role will partner directly with the Director to facilitate and manage all leaves of absence and workers’ compensation workflows, tracking cases from the initial incident through returning to work. Additionally, the candidate will execute precise financial reconciliations and statement audits while driving workflow automation to streamline administrative processes.

Position Specifics

• Location: Main Campus - Abingdon, VA
• Status: Full-Time, Exempt, Monday-Friday
• Compensation: $23.00 - $26.00 - Commensurate with education/experience
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field; PHR preferred.
• Experience: Two (2) years of human resources or administrative experience. One (1) year of exposure to benefits and leave processing. Two (2) years of primary responsibility for benefits and leave processing preferred.
