SURGE Staffing in Columbus, OH is seeking an experienced Benefits Administrator to join our headquarters team. The role focuses on managing self-funded medical plans and 401(k) administration within a large multi-state organization, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.

You will administer health, dental, vision, and retirement programs, coordinate open enrollment, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve issues and improve processes.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of benefits administration experience, preferably in a large multi-state organization.
• Hands-on experience with self-funded medical plans and 401(k) administration.
• Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, IRS, and DOL requirements.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Excel reporting (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
• Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer health, dental, vision, retirement, and other employee benefit programs.
• Manage day-to-day 401(k) plan administration including enrollments and audits.
• Support compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, IRS, and DOL requirements.
• Coordinate open enrollment, employee education, and benefits orientations.
• Partner with vendors, brokers, carriers, and internal teams to resolve issues.
• Reconcile benefits invoices, billing, and payroll deductions.
• Analyze self-funded medical plan performance, utilization, and costs.
• Maintain accurate records and timely benefits reporting.
