The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is seeking a Benefits Access Coordinator to support individuals with disabilities and their families in navigating public benefits and disability service systems. This role emphasizes independent work, research, and building trust within the community at the Upper West Side location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s in Social Work, Public Administration, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of NY disability service systems (OPWDD, Self-Direction, SSI/SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare).
• Experience helping individuals navigate complex public benefit systems.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple families and priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable using technology to document services and manage referrals.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized navigation and guidance on OPWDD, Self-Direction, SSI/SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare, housing, and related benefits.
• Meet with individuals and families virtually, by phone, or in person to identify goals and create action plans.
• Provide short-term consultation and ongoing support as needed.
• Educate families about Self-Direction and connect them with brokers, FIs, attorneys, and partners.
• Research complex benefits questions and stay current on disability services.
• Build relationships with referral sources and partners to expand access.
• Maintain accurate documentation of services, referrals, outcomes; identify trends.
• Collaborate with CDA team to identify needs and develop resource guides and materials.
