The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare in Coeur d'Alene is hiring a Self-Reliance Specialist for a full-time, permanent role. You will assist customers with SNAP, Health Care, Child Care, and cash assistance programs, primarily by phone, while maintaining accuracy and productivity targets.

This position is not a long‑term case management role and does not offer telework; it requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a high‑volume environment, with a comprehensive state

Qualifications

• Experience conducting and documenting sensitive fact-finding interviews.
• Experience de-escalating in high-stress situations with diverse backgrounds.
• Experience applying written policies to determine qualifications for services.
• Experience managing a workload with conflicting priorities.
• Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct customer service by face-to-face interactions, telephone, or mail.
• Gather and verify information to determine eligibility for benefits.
• Develop, adapt and maintain systems to support workload and reporting requirements.
