Job summary

The City of Richmond Department of Social Services is seeking a Benefit Programs Supervisor to supervise a team of Benefit Program Specialists responsible for eligibility determinations and ongoing case management for SNAP, Medicaid, and other federal/state programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, or related field.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience in federal, state and local public assistance and benefit programs.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience as approved by the department.
• Extensive knowledge of state, federal and local benefits programs.
• Exceptional analytical, communication and customer service skills.
• Proficient time and performance management in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and ongoing training to Benefit Programs Specialists delivering eligibility determinations and case management.
• Oversee case processing, management, and service delivery.
• Coach and mentor staff and document performance.
• Participate in hiring and staff development processes.
• Analyze workload data and produce management reports.
• Ensure quality customer service and compliance with program rules.
• Serve as liaison to external and internal partners.
• Support Mass Care Center operations during emergencies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
