The City of Fredericksburg Department of Social Services (FDSS) is recruiting for a Benefit Programs Specialistwho performs eligibility and case management functions for a benefit program caseload. Summary of Duties:
This position will primarily be managing an Ongoing caseload of SNAP and various medical assistance programs to include Families and Children (F&C), Aged Blind and Disabled (ABD), and Long Term Care (LTC).The Benefit Programs Specialistdetermines program eligibility for certain public assistance programs, performs technical, administrative, counseling and case management duties for an assigned caseload of clients served by the City Social Services Department. Duties include interviewing applicants and explaining benefit programs; assisting applicants in completing necessary forms; determining and advising applicants of eligibility for assistance; and monitoring client ongoing program eligibility. Telework options (up to three days a week) are an option for this position once the candidate is fully trained as determined by their supervisor.
