Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of US employee benefit programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement).
  • Experience supporting open enrollment.
  • Experience coordinating with carriers/brokers and HRIS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefits programs across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Manage day-to-day benefits operations (enrollments, eligibility changes, life event updates, inquiries).
  • Lead and support annual open enrollment activities.
  • Perform benefits reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with carriers and vendors.
  • Maintain data within HRIS and benefits systems.
  • Coordinate with carriers, brokers, payroll, and internal stakeholders.
  • Audit benefits data and identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support compliance-related activities and documentation.
  • Assist with employee communications and education regarding benefit programs.

Benefits Administrator (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: New York, NY (World Trade Center 4)

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, 3 days onsite per week

Duration: Initial 5-month contract with potential for permanent conversion

Compensation: $35-$38 per hour

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a hands-on Benefits Administrator to support a growing organization of approximately 600 to 650 employees across the U.S. and Canada. This role is ideal for an experienced benefits professional who enjoys execution, administration, and problem solving rather than high-level strategy.

The successful candidate will play a key role in benefits administration, open enrollment management, vendor coordination, and employee support while partnering closely with the broader HR team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer employee benefits programs across the U.S. and Canada
  • Manage day-to-day benefits operations, including enrollments, eligibility changes, life event updates, and employee inquiries
  • Lead and support annual open enrollment activities, ensuring a smooth and accurate process
  • Perform benefits reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with carriers and vendors
  • Maintain accurate data within HRIS and benefits systems
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers, brokers, payroll, and internal stakeholders to ensure proper benefits administration
  • Audit benefits data and identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Support compliance-related activities and documentation
  • Assist with employee communications and education regarding benefit programs
Ideal Background
  • 4+ years of benefits administration experience
  • Strong understanding of U.S. employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans
  • Experience supporting Canadian benefits programs is highly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with open enrollment administration
  • Comfortable managing carrier relationships and resolving complex employee benefit issues
  • Strong analytical skills with experience performing reconciliations and audits
  • Experience working within HRIS and benefits administration platforms
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through and organizational skills
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
