Benefits Administrator (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Bethesda, MD
Our client, a rapidly growing organization, is seeking a Benefits Administrator to join their HR team on a contract basis with strong potential for long-term growth. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional with experience in benefits and leave administration who is looking to expand their expertise in a collaborative, high-visibility environment.
This role is expected to last 6‑12 months, with the possibility of permanent conversion for a successful candidate based on business needs and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the administration of employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, wellness, commuter, and spending account programs.
- Assist employees with benefits‑related questions and enrollment support.
- Participate in employee education initiatives and benefits communication.
- Administer leave of absence programs, including disability and accommodation requests.
- Coordinate employee leave cases and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding leave policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with benefits and leave regulations.
- Partner with HR and management teams to address employee inquiries and provide guidance on benefits and leave matters.
- Support audits, reconciliations, funding requests, and other administrative processes.
- Maintain employee records and benefits data within HR systems.
- Assist with reporting, data analysis, and reconciliation activities.
- Support ongoing process improvements and operational initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
- 2–4 years of HR, benefits, leave administration, or employee relations experience.
- Experience supporting Leave of Absence (LOA), disability, ADA accommodations, or benefits administration.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain policies and programs clearly to a diverse employee population.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Workday or a similar HRIS platform.
- Knowledge of benefits regulations and leave administration processes.
- Strong Excel and data management skills.
- Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employee populations.
