Responsibilities

• Read blueprints to determine sequence and methods of fabricating and installing sheet metal parts.
• Perform all deburring operations and finish work on parts.
• Strip remaining maskant and silastic from finished chem mill parts.
• Remove burrs and sharp edges using hand tools and equipment.
• Smooth edges and remove buildup with abrasive tools and machines.
• Operate burring and grinding equipment and related tools.
• Control thickness with ultrasonic gauges and micrometers to tight tolerances.
• Handle and manage hazardous waste generated in the work area.
• Lead projects and participate in project committees as needed.

Bench Mechanic

Work with general supervision, plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products by performing the following duties.

Job Summary

• Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
• Performs all deburring operations.
• Strip remaining maskant and silstic from finished chem mill parts.
• Removes burrs and sharp edges by use of various hand tools and materials such as files and edge breakers.
• Smoothes edges and removes build ups with air or electric equipment using abrasive disk and sleeves.
• Operates burring equipment using countersink, grinding wheels, burring rolls, bench grinders, rotary files, drill presses and jitterbug.
• Control thickness by using ultrasonic gages and micrometers calipers, scales to work to close tolerances +/-.002.
• Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned including leading projects and participation in project committees.

Required Skills And Qualifications

• Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend instructions such as blue prints and shop drawings, chem. mill templates with an emphasis on chemical milling features, excess and special conditions.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must be able to comply with specific safety policies.

Base Compensation: USD 18.00 - 20.00 Paid Hourly
