Job summary

Ducommun, Inc. in Carson, CA is seeking an Engineering Technician (Mechanical) to build, assemble, and modify fixtures, jigs, tooling, test setups, and prototypes, and to perform CNC programming and production validation under engineering guidance.

You will read mechanical drawings, set up CNC programs, and train operators while following project timelines and protecting CUI/ITAR data. Base pay is USD 33.00–38.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Relevant technical certificate or degree preferred.
• 5+ years of electromechanical assembly, testing, and/or soldering.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, and modify mechanical fixtures, jigs, tooling, test setups, and Engineering prototypes.
• Perform machining and fabrication tasks using CNC and machine shop equipment.
• Collect data for engineering use with basic inspection tools.
• Create new CNC programs and optimize current programs.
• Train CNC production operators to set up and run new programs.
• Follow prototype build timelines and communicate changes, delays, or risks to the NPI team.
• Protect and maintain all CUI information and ITAR/EAR/CMMC compliance.
• Support visitors and security policies to protect ITAR/EAR/CMMC/CUI information.
• Responsible for the proper handling of hazardous waste.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Regular and acceptable attendance is an essential function of this job.

Engineering Technician

The
Engineering Technician (Mechanical) supports all Engineering teams by
performing hands-on mechanical assembly, fixture builds, CNC programming,
prototype builds and production process validation. This position requires
strong practical skills, attention to detail and the ability to follow
technical instructions under Engineering guidance. When Engineering workload is
low, the technician may support Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) repair
activities or production.

Job Summary

• Build, assemble, and modify mechanical fixtures, jigs, tooling, test setups, and Engineering prototypes.

  gauges.
• Create new CNC programs and optimize current programs.
  
• Train CNC production operators to set up and run new and existing programs.
  
• Follow established prototype build timelines and
  communicate changes, delays, or risks to the NPI team.
• Responsible for protecting and maintaining all Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) appropriately to prevent unauthorized access, dissemination, or use of this information, documentation, or products; including authorized and proper use of such information in regard to marking, storing, transmitting, and destruction of data.
  
• Support all visitors and security policies to protect ITAR/EAR/CMMC/CUI information, documents, products, etc. from unauthorized access by informing management immediately of any concerns.
  
• Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in employee's work area.
  
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
• Regular and acceptable attendance is an essential
  function of this job.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proficient in use of machine shop equipment (drill
  press, saws, hand tools, CNC Mills, CNC lathes, grinders, etc.).
  
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and assembly
  instructions.
  
• Proficient in programming using Mastercam, SolidWorks,
  CAM Works, or equivalent.
  
• Experience in programming CNC mills and lathes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required Experience and Education
