Job summary

The Behavioral Support Assistant at Person County Schools provides direct behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health support to students with behavioral challenges, implementing evidence-based interventions and contributing to a positive school climate.

You will collaborate with behavior specialists, teachers, families, and other staff to design, monitor, and adjust Behavior Intervention Plans, collect data, and promote student engagement and attendance.

Qualifications

• Requires two-year degree or 48 credit hours.
• Background check and references required.
• Ability to work with students with behavioral challenges.
• Must obtain CPI certification or district-approved crisis intervention training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with positive behavior supports to reduce disruptions.
• Support social-emotional and behavioral needs of students.
• Collaborate with behavior specialists and staff to monitor plans.
• Collect observational data and monitor intervention effectiveness.
• Provide small-group and restorative sessions to support student needs.
• Coordinate with families and staff on student progress.
