Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a Behavior Modification Technician to support students with behavior management plans and social-emotional development. The role involves one-on-one and group sessions, data collection, and collaboration with teachers, parents, and community partners to promote student success.

The position requires a high school diploma, with related coursework or trainings, and experience in mental health or human services. NCI certification is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Two years of related college coursework or additional trainings/certifications required
  • One year of experience in a mental health or human service program preferably with behaviorally complex children
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services field preferred
  • Active Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
  • Provide one-on-one and group therapy processing sessions, assessment of student needs, and goal setting
  • Observe, document, and maintain data regarding student behavior, attendance, and academic progress
  • Establish rapport with students, staff, parents, and community agencies
  • Implement behavior management programs to develop social and academic skills
  • Assist with day-to-day discipline and coordinate activities for parents
  • Provide supervision to students in alternative settings
  • Respond to calls for assistance and de-escalate volatile situations
  • Attend staff and in-service meetings
