Job summary

Polk County Public Schools in Lakeland, FL is seeking an Academic Behavior Support Teacher (ABST) to assist administrators and teachers in developing and implementing behavioral interventions that boost student learning time and achievement.

The ABST will coach teams, model strategies, support data collection and progress monitoring, coordinate with parents and staff, and help sustain Positive Behavior Supports across the school.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Master's degree with advanced coursework in applied behavior analysis is preferred.
• Valid Florida Professional Certificate in the designated content area(s) is required.
• 3–5 years of successful classroom teaching with measurable student gains.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with behavior management strategies and modeling in the classroom.
• Coach teams to develop and implement FBA/BIP and crisis plans.
• Assist with data collection, progress monitoring, and data-driven decision making.
• Communicate with parents, peers, and administration regarding student progress.
• Assist with MTSS, Positive Behavior Supports, and Plans of Safety.
