Job summary

Buffalo Hearing & Speech has an opening for a Behavioral Support Classroom Aide (BSA) at our Sweet Home location in Amherst, NY, working with preschool children in special education classrooms. This is a full-time position, Monday–Friday, 7:45am–2:45pm, with a six-week summer program in July and August.

The BSA assists with managing the classroom, implements age-appropriate lessons, reinforces goals, supports multiple classrooms, and follows behavior management procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum Degree Required: High school diploma/ GED.
• Minimum Experience Required: Experience working with children, or in a classroom setting and/or working with children/adults with developmental delays/disabilities.
• Physical requirements: lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, sprinting, crawling, and running; vision, speech, hearing adequate to perform job requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom team in the production and implementation of age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Work as a team member in the classroom design and implementation.
• Implement and maintain behavioral support responsibilities.
• Follow policies and procedures related to behavior management (CPI).
• Maintain a healthy, safe, and organized classroom environment.
• Follow site policies for bus duty and distribution of Breakfast/Lunch under NYSED guidelines.

This a full-time position working Monday - Friday, 7:45am - 2:45pm and includes working a 6-week summer program in July & August.The BSA is responsible for assisting with the management of the children and classroom environment. Duties will include but are not limited to organizing and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and activities under the direction of the classroom teacher, reinforcing educational goals, attending to the individual needs of the children, and following busing and breakfast/lunch program procedures.
