Qualifications

• Two years of experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or hospital settings.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with seriously mentally ill patients and staff.
• English reading and writing proficiency.
• ICD-10 coding knowledge or certification.
• Billing and coding knowledge or certification.
• Medical records knowledge or certification.
• Proficient with computers and data entry for electronic documentation.
• Experience using EHR systems for documentation and care coordination.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and determine medical necessity for coverage.
• Coordinate with providers, case management and clinical team to ensure appropriate level of care.
• Communicate with insurance companies to obtain authorizations and manage denials.
• Maintain patient and payer records with accuracy and privacy compliance.
• Submit 24-hour notification into LA County TAR Unit Database and TAR forms.
• Print or upload patient medical records as required.
• Track submissions to ensure timely processing and status updates.
• Monitor TAR tracking and compliance; adhere to deadlines.
• Support IOP/PHP services during census fluctuations as needed.
