Alaris Health at Cedar Grove, a skilled nursing facility located in Cedar Grove, NJ, seeks a Behavioral Technician for their 60-bed locked behavioral unit. The Behavioral Technician assists in planning, organizing, and directing activity programs for residents.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Encourage social communication through group recreation.
  2. Initiate behavior modification, de-escalation, and crisis intervention techniques to maintain safety and promote healing.
  3. Provide 1:1 observation on residents due to medical issues or risk behaviors.
  4. Engage residents in leisure activities to deter maladaptive behaviors.
  5. Implement sensory training, reality orientation, re-motivation, and re-socialization programs.
  6. Possess training and certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention and demonstrate advanced behavioral techniques.
  7. Work with residents with complex or severe behavioral issues, applying therapeutic techniques to de-escalate situations.
  8. Recognize escalating aggressive behaviors and redirect calmly to a safe environment.
Job Requirements:
  • Experience working with mentally ill residents with special needs or aggressive behaviors.
  • Ability to work with residents requiring behavioral de-escalation techniques.
  • Training and certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention.
