Job summary

Community Counseling Center Inc. seeks a Behavioral Health Technician for the Psychiatric Individualized Supportive Living (PISL) program in Cape Girardeau, MO.

The role is full-time with a 6:00am-4:00pm schedule and rotating weekends, supporting adult women in residential care. You will help with skills training, crisis response, and daily activities, requiring strong communication and a client-centered approach.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED/HSE required.
  • MO Class E Driver's License required by start date; Class D for IL residents.
  • Reliable transportation; proof of auto insurance; must satisfy MVR standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, trauma-informed environment for clients.
  • Assist clients with daily living skills and participate in groups.
  • Lead or assist therapeutic and recreational groups; teach coping skills.
  • Document observations and interventions accurately; track medications per policy.
  • Provide client transportation as needed and respond to behavioral crises per protocol.

Behavioral Health Technician - Psychiatric Individualized Supportive Living (PISL)

Location: Cape Girardeau, MO

Full-Time Position: 6:00am-4:00pm (with rotating weekend (following 3-2, 3-2-, 2-2 rotation, will end up being off every other weekend).

Location: Cape Girardeau, MO
Pay: $17.38 - $19.78/hour

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED/HSE required.
  • Preference will be given to those with at least two years' experience in Healthcare or Mental Health field or with an undergraduate degree.
  • Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.

Note: The Class E is just a written required computer test. No Driving Test has to be taken for the Class E. Then you would go to the DMV after the test is taken (passed) and transfer the license over to that Class E.

The Psychiatric Individualized Supportive Living (PISL) Program

PISL is four bedroom living arrangement for transitional adults between the ages of 18 years up to the age of 26 with a diagnosed severe and persistent mental health illness. The residents must demonstrate willingness, desire and need to learn and/or improve independent living skills. Individuals may have a variety of presenting problems including a history of mental illness, severe functional disability, (i.e. inability to work, live independently, or maintain adequate social support) and possibly substance use/dependency issues.

Your Job as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)*

As a BHT you are responsible for the oversight of the clients' safety and mental well-being as well as the physical plant facilities. This includes assisting clients with skill building, participating in groups and social activities, and intervening in crisis situations when needed. To be successful in this role, you would need to have a high level of communication skills, model behavior to clients, and promote client-centered treatment.

What You'll Do

As a Behavioral Health Technician, you'll be a key part of a supportive team helping adult women in a residential treatment environment:

  • Maintain a safe, trauma-informed environment
  • Support clients with daily living skills (hygiene, meals, medications, etc.)
  • Lead or assist with therapeutic and recreational groups
  • Teach emotional regulation, coping skills, and healthy habits
  • Document observations and interventions accurately
  • Perform safety checks (rooms, belongings, and grounds)
  • Provide client transportation as needed
  • Assist during behavioral crises and follow emergency protocols
  • Track and distribute medications under agency policies
