Overview

CRi is a well-known non-profit organization with operations in Northern VA, Richmond VA, and Maryland, dedicated to enabling individuals with disabilities to live as independently as possible. We are opening a new Forensic Mental Health program in our Richmond location and are hiring PART-TIME Behavioral Health Technicians.

The Behavioral Health Technician in our Mental Health Forensic Group Home provides specialized care and support for individuals with mental health disorders within a forensic setting. Working with a multidisciplinary team, the Technician ensures the well-being, safety, and rehabilitation of individuals who may have a history with the criminal justice system. Part-time evening rotating schedules are available in the following zip codes: 23225 and 23236.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision to individuals with mental health disorders in a compassionate and therapeutic manner.
• Implement and monitor treatment plans as outlined by the clinical team, ensuring individualized needs are met.
• Employ de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to manage challenging behaviors.
• Collaborate with the clinical team to assess and address behavioral concerns, promoting a therapeutic and supportive environment.
• Administer prescribed medications as per established protocols, ensuring accuracy and adherence to schedules; monitor and document responses and report any side effects to nursing/medical staff.
• Assist in facilitating therapeutic group activities, counseling sessions, and skill-building exercises; collaborate with mental health professionals to implement evidence-based interventions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes; report significant changes or incidents promptly to supervisory staff.
• Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other team members to ensure coordinated care; participate in team meetings and training sessions.
• Implement safety protocols and conduct regular facility checks to identify and address safety hazards.
• Respond effectively to emergencies and crises following established protocols to ensure safety of individuals and staff.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in psychiatric technology or related field is preferred.
• Experience working in mental health, forensic, or similar settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Knowledge of psychiatric medications, therapeutic techniques, and behavioral management strategies.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Physical Demands

Requires light and/or heavy lifting, repetitive bending, good sight and hearing, and the ability to move with ease.

Working Environment

Residential setting, indoor and outdoor program sites, and various community locations.
