Job summary

Center for Family Services is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Technician for the Crisis Receiving Stabilization Center. This is a 24-hour psychiatric crisis center for adults experiencing a mental health crisis, providing therapeutic interventions for up to 24 hours.

The role supports admissions, trauma-informed care, and collaboration with the clinical team to ensure safe, quality care. A Bachelor's in behavioral health and relevant experience are required, with benefits and sign-on

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field.
  • Minimum two years of experience with serious mental illness or substance use disorders.
  • Valid driver's license with at least three years driving history.
  • Behavioral health technician certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with admission of new consumer admissions.
  • Records inventory log of belongings and valuables.
  • Works with licensed clinicians to facilitate care and disposition planning.
  • Apply trauma-informed care in interactions with consumers.
  • Observe consumers and use de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Provide crisis support using trauma-informed engagement and safety procedures.
  • Serve as liaison with CRSC staff to meet consumer needs.
  • Provide supervision of meals for consumers.
  • Support transportation for clients to access services as needed.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Submit incident reports per policy.
  • Coordinate with staff to promote quality client care.
  • Participate in trainings, meetings, and program improvement activities.
  • Report safety and maintenance issues.
  • Follow all policies and procedures.

PROGRAM SUMMARY:

Center For Family Services is seeking experienced and professional Behavioral Health Technician for the Crisis Receiving Stabilization Center. This is a 24-hour psychiatric crisis center for adults experiencing a mental health crisis. The Crisis Receiving Stabilization Center provides a nurturing and supportive environment where our clients can receive therapeutic interventions for up to 24 hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists with the admission process of new consumer admissions.
  • Records Inventory log of all consumer personal belongings, valuables and return ticket. Consumer valuables to be kept in the secure locker.
  • Work closely with Licensed Clinician and clinical team to facilitate care of consumer and disposition planning.
  • Apply trauma informed care approach to consumer interactions.
  • Ongoing observation of consumers in the care of the CRSC.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment and seek assistance as necessary to effectively manage consumer behavior. Utilize de-escalation techniques as appropriate.
  • Provide support during behavioral health crises by using trauma-informed engagement, verbal de-escalation, environmental awareness, and approved program safety procedures to help maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu.
  • Serve as liaison with CRSC staff to ensure that all consumer needs are met.
  • Provides supervision of any food or meals for consumers in program.
  • Provide emotional support for consumers while referring them to clinical staff to deal with clinical issues.
  • Provide (using program vehicle) and/or arrange for transportation services for clients to afford access to services as needed.
  • Complete all assigned paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely manner.
  • Complete incident reports according to policy in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Communicate with other staff as necessary to promote quality client care.
  • Participate in required staff trainings and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Participate in Center and Program performance improvement activities.
  • Observe and report safety, maintenance problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position and in accordance with program policies, training, and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field
  • At least two years of experience working with individuals with a serious mental illness or with a substance use disorder
  • Current driver's license with a good driving record of at least three years
  • Behavioral health technician certification preferred
