Summary: Monday/Tuesday/Friday 7a-7p

The Behavioral Health Technician's primary function is to contribute to the health and well-being of the patient. The technician assists the team by providing constant safety observations, redirection/de-escalation, and care for patients at risk to themselves and/or others.

Required Education: No education requirements.

Recommended Education: High school diploma or GED or equivalent.

Required Work Experience: 2 years of relevant experience; HS Diploma or GED may substitute for 2 years of work experience.

Recommended Work Experience: Please specify if applicable.

Required Certifications: Please specify if applicable.

Recommended Certifications: CBHT, CNA, CMHT, RBT, or other relevant certifications.

Responsibilities include:
  • Documenting patient’s mood, mental sharpness, sleep, eating habits, and overall function.
  • Observing and documenting vital statistics.
  • Recognizing and reporting early signs of escalation.
  • Communicating effectively with the treatment team.
  • Responding safely to dangerous behaviors.
  • Applying de-escalation techniques.
  • Completing patient care tasks delegated by licensed nursing staff.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Assisting with patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
