Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Clinical Support team member to perform patient care tasks and clerical duties within a behavioral health setting. The role supports the therapeutic milieu, communicates with staff, and ensures patient comfort and safety across adolescent (and adult/geriatric if in PRN pool) populations as assigned.

Must maintain composure amid changing priorities. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, with Associates Degree or two years of college

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates Degree or two years college preferred.
• Two years hospital experience preferred.
• Must be able to maintain personal composure in a behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities

• Obtains initial information from patient/guardian and documents on assessment form.
• Assists patient with unit tour and orientation to the unit, including patient rights.
• Performs search of patient and belongings within Laurelwood policy.
• Assists with collection of lab specimens and prepares for transport to lab.
• Interacts with patients to structure the milieu and encourage group participation.
• Monitors and documents patient status, reports changes to Charge Nurse.
• Uses therapeutic communication with patients in groups and one-to-one.
• Observes patient checks and documents on appropriate forms.
• Assists with hygiene and nutritional needs and daily living activities.
• Transports patients and lab specimens between locations as needed.
• Participates in Crisis Intervention training and performs Verbal/Physical interventions when required.
• Assists with discharge documentation and unit log entries.
• Supports team decisions in structuring the milieu.
• Maintains safety with sharps, seclusion, and restraints as applicable.
• Handles inquiries and assists with intake when Intake Specialist unavailable.
• Provides coverage at nursing station and assists visitors.
