Employment Status: Per Diem/ Relief (NOT ELIGIBLE FOR FULL-TIME BENEFITS WHICH INCLUDES MEDICAL, AND RETIREMENT)

COMHAR's Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) located in Philadelphia supports children, youth, and young adults with mental, emotional, and behavioral health needs. Services are provided across various settings (home, school, community) to help reduce or replace problematic behaviors with positive, socially appropriate ones, emphasizing family engagement throughout.

The Behavioral Health Technician offers one-to-one mental health interventions to children or adolescents with serious emotional disturbances to prevent restrictive services or out-of-home placements, promoting psychosocial growth. These services, recommended by psychologists or psychiatrists and approved by CBH, are short-term with minimal disruption to the child's routine. The technician collaborates with families, teachers, and school personnel to develop skills for integrating children into normal activities. Interventions include:

  • Positive behavioral reinforcement
  • Emotional support
  • Time-structuring activities
  • Crisis intervention techniques
  • Other strategies as prescribed in the child's treatment plan

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing interventions to develop self-management skills such as attention focusing, organization, planning, and appropriate participation across settings.
  • Supporting teachers, parents, and caregivers in supervising and managing the child's behavior.
  • Helping implement behavioral intervention plans and alternative activities for challenging behaviors.
  • Promoting positive relationships with peers, family, and school staff.
  • Ensuring safety and promoting positive behaviors in various settings.

Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED or higher.
  • Ability to complete 64 hours of paid training upon hire.
