Job summary

WellBridge Fort Worth, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to support therapeutic milieu under RN direction, ensuring safety and dignity for patients. You will engage in supervising patients, administer tasks, and help deliver scheduled programs in a caring psychiatric setting.

The role requires critical thinking, resilience in stress, and relevant CPR/de-escalation certifications within 30 days of hire, with a 3x12 day shift schedule.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: psychiatric health-care facility with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, or geriatric patients preferred.
  • Licenses: CPR and de-escalation certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and maintain a safe environment through patient checks and supervision.
  • Take vital signs, collect specimens, document care and monitor patients.
  • Promote a positive therapeutic milieu and accompany patients to meals and appointments.
  • Report medical or psychiatric changes to the RN and assist with admissions.
  • Document patient property at admission and discharge and conduct unit safety checks.
  • Encourage activities of daily living and facilitate psychoeducational groups.
  • Apply crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Orient new staff, document in medical records, and comply with OSHA/CDC guidelines.

How You'll Contribute

A Behavioral Health Technician who excels in this role provides support to the therapeutic milieu under the direction of the registered nurse by ensuring scheduled programs are delivered, supervising patients, maintaining safety, and treating patients and guests with dignity.

  • Observe and maintain a safe environment through regular patient checks, safety monitoring, contraband searches, and one-on-one supervision as needed.
  • Perform delegated tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, documenting care, assisting with group education, and monitoring patients.
  • Promote a positive therapeutic milieu and accompany patients to meals, breaks, off-unit visits, and appointments.
  • Report all medical or psychiatric changes to the RN and assist with admissions, including belongings inventory and vital signs.
  • Document patient property at admission and discharge and conduct unit safety checks each shift to ensure a clean, therapeutic environment.
  • Encourage or assist patients with activities of daily living and facilitate or cofacilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups using established guidelines.
  • Apply crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed and maintain knowledge of program protocols.
  • Orient new staff members to the unit, document in the medical record according to policy, provide feedback to the interdisciplinary team, comply with OSHA and CDC specimen guidelines, and perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a psychiatric health-care facility with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, or geriatric patients preferred.
  • Licenses: CPR and de-escalation certification required within 30 days of hire.
Schedule: 3x12, Days (7a-7p), rotating weekends
