Job summary

Hickory Recovery Network is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) for the 3rd shift (11:00pm - 7:00am, Thu-Mon) in Corydon, Indiana. The role supports client care, assists with treatment plans, and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment under supervision.

Responsibilities include documenting observations in EMR, assisting with admissions/discharges, and collaborating with clinical staff. Required: valid driver’s license and weekend availability.

Qualifications

High School Diploma preferred.
Valid driver's license required.

Working under the direction of the BHT Manager, the BHT helps implement individualized treatment plans by monitoring client well‑being, providing daily support, and maintaining a therapeutic environment that promotes recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Client Support and Engagement

Build positive, therapeutic relationships with clients while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Support the implementation of individualized treatment plans through consistent daily interactions.
Encourage and assist clients in attending all scheduled individual and group therapy sessions.
Monitor client behavior and activities throughout each shift while promoting compliance with program expectations.
Assist clients with daily routines, including:
- Phone privileges
- Computer use
- Smoke breaks
- Meals
- Recreational activities
- Gather clients for scheduled groups and activities while providing encouragement and support.

Safety, Compliance, & Therapeutic Environment

Maintain confidentiality of all client information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Observe and report changes in client behavior, mood, or safety concerns.
Immediately report safety hazards or incidents to leadership.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment.
Follow infection prevention protocols, including proper PPE usage and hand hygiene.
Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and professionalism in all interactions.

Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities

Accurately document client interactions and observations within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Complete shift notes, safety rounds, and client belongings inventories.
Document client non‑compliance and behavioral incidents according to policy.
Follow all procedures outlined in the Behavioral Health Procedural Manual.
Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members regarding client progress and concerns.

Admissions, Discharges, & Treatment Support

Assist with client admissions, including:
- Drug and alcohol screening
- Contraband searches
- Orientation to the program
Support nursing staff during medication pass.
Assist with discharge processes, including:
- Successful program completion
- Administrative discharges
- Against Medical Advice (AMA) discharges

Teamwork & Professional Development

Collaborate closely with clinical, nursing, and leadership teams to provide quality patient care.
Attend required staff meetings and ongoing training sessions.
Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Maintain professionalism while contributing to a positive team culture
