Shift Schedule: 11:00pm – 7:30am Sunday – Thursday; 2nd Shift 3pm – 11:30pm Tuesday – Saturday
About the Role
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is an integral member of the treatment team, functioning as the primary conduit between client, clinical, and medical staff to ensure the implementation and integration of the person‑centered treatment plan.
Under the immediate supervision of the Behavioral Health Technician Manager, the BHT monitors, observes, and reports client activities while providing structure and support of the clinical person‑centered treatment plan.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to learn quickly, multi‑task, and communicate effectively, both orally and in written form.
- Positive demeanor and clear understanding of professional boundaries with clients.
- Ability to follow directives explicitly, adhere to facility policies, provide client‑driven customer service, and exercise time management skills.
- Scheduling flexibility, including holiday and weekend rotation, is required.
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Engagement
- Consistent, daily, appropriate interaction with clients while supporting implementation of individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain clear, ethical boundaries with clients and their families.
- Ensure clients attend all individual and group treatment sessions and follow daily schedules.
- Assist and monitor client activities throughout the shift, including compliance with treatment center rules.
- Support clients with phone use, computer time, smoke breaks, and mealtimes.
- Gather clients for group programming.
Safety, Compliance, & Environment
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information per HIPAA guidelines.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and maintain professional boundaries.
- Report safety hazards immediately.
- Work continuously to maintain a clean, safe, and functional treatment center environment.
- Practice proper infection control, including PPE use and hand hygiene.
Documentation & Administrative Duties
- Use the EMR to accurately document all client interactions with concise, clear communication.
- Record shift notes, safety rounds, and client belongings inventory.
- Document instances of client non‑compliance.
- Follow all processes in the Behavioral Health Procedural Manual.
Admissions, Discharges, & Treatment Processes
- Perform client admissions, including drug/alcohol screens and contraband searches.
- Assist nursing staff during medication pass times.
- Complete duties related to client discharge (graduation, administrative discharge, or AMA).
Teamwork, Training, & Performance
- Attend staff meetings and training courses as directed by the supervisor.
- Participate in ongoing performance improvement activities.
Compensation
$15‑$18 per hour
