Job summary

Carrollton Springs, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to support nursing administration and patient care in a fast-paced behavioral health setting in Carrollton, Texas.

You will coordinate staffing, supervise Patient Sitters, and help develop staff, ensuring compliance with policies while delivering compassionate care to adults with mental health and addiction challenges. This role offers stability and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred; CPR certification and CPI within 30 days of employment prior to any patient contact.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews staffing needs daily and maintains staffing reports.
  • Supervises Patient Sitters.
  • Reviews staffing levels to resolve shortages using flexible staffing plan.
  • In timely manner, informs appropriate Director when staffing issues are anticipated and/or occur.
  • Coordinates and supervises staffing assignments for patient sitters; provides recruitment, direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to Patient Sitters.
  • Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Assesses and ensures quality of services and staff development programs.
  • Ensures staff compliance with policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Composes, types, and transcribes correspondence and reports.
  • Receives, screens, routes visitors and telephone calls; responds to and escalates inquiries.
  • Schedules/coordinates meetings and maintains calendars.
  • Maintains files and office equipment.
  • Orders and stocks supplies.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

How You'll Contribute


  • Performs a variety of duties to support nursing administration. Reviews staffing needs daily, calculating staffing requirements based on flexible staffing patterns and patient acuity and maintains record of reports.

  • Supervises Patient Sitters.

  • Reviews staffing levels to actively resolve staffing shortages using flexible staffing plan as guidelines for staffing requirements.

  • In timely manner, informs appropriate Director when staffing issues are anticipated and/or occur.

  • Determines, coordinates and supervises staffing assignments for patient sitters. Provides recruitment, direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to Patient Sitters.

  • Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.

  • Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs.

  • Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Composes, types, and transcribes correspondence, forms, reports, presentation materials and other written communications.

  • Receives, screens, and routes visitors and telephone calls. Responds to, escalates, and follows up on inquiries and problems as appropriate.

  • Schedules/coordinates meetings, conferences, special events, and appointments.

  • Maintains assigned calendar(s).

  • Maintains files and office equipment.

  • Orders and stocks supplies.

  • Additional duties as assigned and needed.


What We're Looking For

  • Education: Required: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.

  • CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment prior to any patient contact.


Schedule: 3x12, Nights (7p-7a), rotating weekends

Carrollton Springs is a behavioral health hospital located in Carrollton, Texas, part of the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metro Area north of Dallas, TX. We provide inpatient and outpatient programming for those facing mental health and addiction challenges. We treat adults aged 18+, as well as provide specialized programming for active-duty military, veterans, first responders, and other high-risk frontline professionals.
