Role: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
Work Setting: In-home, clinic, school, or community environments
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Client Care: Provide one-on-one ABA therapy sessions focused on social, communication, and daily living skills.
- Implement Behavior Plans: Execute skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols designed by the supervising BCBA.
- Data Collection: Record accurate, objective behavioral and instructional data during every session using electronic devices or paper logs.
- Collaboration: Communicate regularly with BCBAs, families, and team members regarding client progress and session notes.
- Safety & Ethics: Maintain a safe, supportive environment and adhere to the ethical guidelines of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework or a degree in psychology, education, or a related field is often preferred).
- Certification: Current BACB RBT Certification or willingness to complete the required 40-hour training and pass the exam within a specified timeframe (e.g., 90 days).
- Experience: Prior experience working with children, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift or move up to 50 pounds as required during active client sessions.
- Clearances: Pass a criminal background check and abuse-registry check.
