Job summary

Radix Recovery in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to provide direct, non-clinical support to residents in a behavioral health setting under licensed staff supervision. The BHT helps implement treatment plans, monitor behavior, ensure safety, and support daily activities to maintain a therapeutic environment.

The role involves crisis de-escalation, documentation, group facilitation, confidentiality, and collaboration with the treatment team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Prefer a minimum of 1 year of experience in behavioral health, residential, or related care setting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and document resident behavior and interactions per facility protocols.
• Assist residents with daily routines including hygiene, meals, chores, and non-administration of medications.
• De-escalate crises and promptly notify clinical staff of changes or safety concerns.
• Conduct room checks, facility rounds, and environmental safety inspections.
• Support cleanliness and prep of bedrooms and common areas.
• Maintain accurate documentation in resident records.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate structured groups or activities.
• Protect resident confidentiality under HIPAA and communicate progress to the treatment team.
• Participate in shift hand-offs, team meetings, and trainings.
• Assist with sanitary food preparation and meal service when needed.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and resident orientation.
