Job summary

Qualifications

• CPI completion before Orientation in Psychiatry, active throughout employment
• BLS certification maintained throughout employment
• Level II Background Check and Good Moral Character affidavit
• First year: complete basic orientation plus 12 hours in-service training

Responsibilities

• Provides daily living activities for patients and maintains a safe environment.
• Collaborates with care team; participates in routine interactions with patients and behaviors management.
• Assist with patient intake/admission paperwork under supervision of RN.
• Document significant events, behaviors, I&O if ordered, and observations.
• Communicate patient behavior changes to RN and care team.
• Lead group sessions with a preset agenda; reassess safety with patients.
• Apply de-escalation techniques and maintain therapeutic milieu.
• Complete timely documentation including patient teaching and observations.
• Assist with clerical tasks, weights, vitals, belongings, and specimen collection.
• Evaluate patient responses to treatment plans and adjust as needed.
• Interact with patients to support social skills development and adherence to rules.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Plan and support therapeutic activities; assist RNs and therapists with plans.
• Provide on-going supervision of patient activities and attendance.
